Herb of the Month - Chamomile!

Chamomile’s relaxing properties have been known for hundreds of years.

It is used forChamomile mild insomnia, stress and anxiety. If you have trouble sleeping or even if you've had a bad day, relaxing before bed with a cup of chamomile tea can help.

Some of chamomile's relaxing properties come from it being a muscle relaxant so as well as easing nervous tension it is also useful for other conditions where muscle tension is an issue. These range from menstrual pain to digestive problems.

Chamomile has a long history of use in gastro-intestinal disorders such as constipation, diarrhoea, indigestion, gastritis and irritable bowel syndrome. Regular cups of chamomile tea can really make a difference so if you are suffering with a digestive complaint, try chamomile tea!

To make chamomile tea, add you tea bag or some dried flowers to a teapot or mug and seep for 10 minutes. If you use a mug make sure you have a lid on it to keep all the goodness in your tea.

Chamomile also has a reputation for healing other plants as well as humans. If you have a beloved plant in your garden that isn't very happy, try planting some chamomile next to it.
